Sanity is madness put to good use. – George Santayana

“You never write, you never call, you never come to see me.” No, these are not the words of a long suffering Jewish mother, although they could be, these are the words of my Blogger buddies who have switched over to beta. They are lamenting because I’m unable to post comments on their blog because I haven’t made the switch to beta.
Folks, please e-mail me and tell me if you are having trouble posting comments on my blog. I’m especially interested in finding out if beta users can post comments on non-beta blogs.
Oi Vey!

Testing, testing.
I have had problems posting a comment on a non-beta blog and non-beta bloggers have had problems posting to mine. But I switched to beta just a few days ago. Warning: when you switch you will lose all your widgets and have to reinstall them.

I just posted a warning on my site regarding the Beta version. It is a disaster. I just tried to log onto a beta site comment section using my blog name and it wouldn’t let me. I had to post as “other”. I haven’t had a problem posting to the original version as I have the original version and don’t intend to switch until they make us. Great question…..

I wasn’t aware of that problem. The beta switch has been pretty seamless as far as I knew.

I actually have both beta and non-beta accounts just so I can post on all blogs. Otherwise it’s a pain.
I’ve seen less posting on my blog lately too. I think people are just insanely busy with Christmas approaching.

I am non-beta and can’t post to beta. I have a beta buddy who can post comments on my blog.
I’m thinking this is a plan by blogger to get everyone to convert. But I don’t want to!

I know when I first switched to Beta, I had to be logged in to Blogger to post on non-Beta users. was that ever inconvenient!
I have also heard from blogging buddies of problems posting, especially if they use Haloscan. hopefully Blogger can fix all of these glitches.
your blog is brilliant, by the way.

I want to thank everyone for their comments. I didn’t know what was happening. Lea is right. I think Blogger is trying to blackmail us into converting to Beta.

I have no trouble commenting on either beta or non-beta blogs. My blog is sort of half and half. I switched, but I didn’t upgrade my template.
My other blog is completely beta, and there are people who are commenting there, though, not sure if you have ever tried.

I made the switch because I too couldn’t comment on beta bloggers sites. But here lately I have had trouble commenting on all sites!

I just posted about this yesterday. I haven’t switched to beta because I prefer to wait and get feedback on how it performs, because once you switch, it’s irreversible. On blogs that I know are beta, I can’t post comments, even if I log in as anonymous. With non-beta and non-blogger blogs – no problem. I really hope that this is just a glitch caused by the setting up of beta that blogger will fix, otherwise there’s going to be a lot of seriously pissed-off bloggers making angry noises. If we’re provoked into moving from blogger to more accessible bloghosts, you will hear the crash of Google’s share price all over the Blogosphere.

The beta blogger still has some big bugs in it. There are issues with posting across platforms both directions.
I’m not planning to switch unless I have to, either.
It does seem almost as though they’re not fixing the bug on purpose to try to force people to go to the new platform.

I don’t intend to switch until I have to. It just seems that there are too many problems and since I’m new to blogging, I want the problems to be minimal before I go to another format.

Beta is a classic case of fixing what wasn’t broke and now it is. I can’t get into my beta account at all.

I’m a beta blogger, and haven’t had trouble posting comments so far MJ. I have to sign in through google if I ahven’t already signed into beta blogger. I can post on both blogger and beta blogger. Evidently all new blog are through beta..I’m so computer illiterate, most difficulties are of my own making. :0)

I can’t switch to beta.
My blog is too big.
I guess I have been to busy (blogging) the last few years.
Not making the switch transparent for commenters is going to slow down adoption of beta.

I believe they can, although there has been a lot of trouble. There may be some updating required once changed. I haven’t changed yet.
Thanks to the other commenters for their warnings. I’m staying unchanged for now.

Hey Girl,
I’m not sure who is beta or who is not, but I haven’t had any problems posting anywhere.
I refuse to switch because I’m afraid it will somehow lose everything, and I do so much hate change.
My theory is–if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Hope alls well,

You betcha. But — unlike the guy in the old cigarette commercial — I’d rather switch than fight. We’d have to do so anyway… and when I couldn’t comment on beta blogs any more, I pulled the trigger.
Only then did I figure out how to get around it… and Dr. A says the crisis may have passed anyway.
Just in case, I have posted instructions in my sidebar how non-Beta users can leave comments.
Don’t stay away!
