A small group of large banks (and CEOs) caused this mess, so why is the gov’t rewarding them with $34 billion?

I still have a job, only because I found an employer who valued long-term stability over short term profits. A short term frame of mind will get you sooner or later, and many have paid the price.

Oh, I so love Barbara Ehrenreich, including some of her writings about health care and women (and I’ll even excuse her nurse-bashing back in the day).

It’s scary times for a lot of people. Those who were holding on by a thread are the first to fall, and it is so tragic.

You’re not lucky, you’re smart. You made a good choice of professions, sacrificed to get through school and worked hard to get where you are today.

You have earned everything you have and your skills and experience are in demand. IMO, nurses are the primary caregivers and no healthcare facility can operate without your services. You’re much more important than you may think.

If this poor economy continues, you can bet that whoever employs you will be looking to use that fear as leverage to reduce your pay or benefits. Don’t let them fool you, you have the upper hand. Use it wisely.
