Mother Jones,
As a first time reader of your blog, your anti-Fox News stance is very disconcerting. Are you on George Soros’ payroll? I personally like the diversity of different news programs to try and decide what the truth is? Not what they are trying to feed us….as they “Elite News Media” say, we are nothing but “sheepeople” ….. They sing and we dance!

As Michelle stated, everyone needs to read the Healthcare Bill and understand this is not the answer to our prayers in regards to health are reform. Without tort reform we are wasting our time. Doctors are leaving my state and practicing elsewhere because of the high cost of liability insurance. There are many issues that need to be looked at, but turning healthcare over to our government who can’t manage medicare or social security is not the answer.

Nurse R., I agree with you on both Sarah Palin and the boycott Mac scam, even though I don’t have a Mac myself. By the way, FOX News gave me comic relief with their stupid report on the Netherlands re healthcare and all sorts of unrelated things.

Liz, I respectfully disagree with you about your views on Sarah Palin. I’m not afraid of her. She gives liberals comic relief. Seriously. Her statement, “I can see Russia from my house” is memorable. I do agree with you about slippery slopes, but the insurance industry has had us on one of those for years. I can’t tell you how many patients I’ve seen deteriorate while waiting for approval for treatment, or have died because their insurance companied denied their claim. The public option will give us more choices, and the option to stop sliding down that slippery slope.

The only reason Sarah Palin is scary is because she’s fresh, uncomplicated, and competent….and liberals can’t handle it. By all means, lets trash Palin and continue with the status quo politicians who hobnob by night and spend, spend, spend us into oblivion.

But nevermind that. Anyone who believes this bill doesn’t leave a lot to the imagination is naive. Ever heard of the slippery slope? Too many historical examples to recount here that proves the point.

Granted, some kind of healthcare reform is needed….but to just accept without question the first bill cobbled together without even reading it…that’s just dumb.

At least all the hoopla has allowed time for the bill to be read, and possibly (hopefully) amended appropriately.

And never underestimate the ability of humankind to recreate history. Man’s inhumanity to man lives on….this is why it’s a good thing to be wary……
