I remember "Man on the Floor" very well. I lived in the nursing dorm in a Brooklyn, NY diploma school. There was a phone booth at the end of the hall (how many students can fit in one?) and the housemother who imbibed could be counted on to nod off after 10:00 PM. Students returning after curfew could easily slide under the fence and into a previously blocked open door.

I am just happy that the nursing students of today wear hospital scrubs and that caps are out! My alma mater did not require caps, but our uniforms were white with an orange and gold patch, the school colors.

Anyone remember the caps that looked like coffee filters with a piece of black lace through them?! smile

Thanks for the memories, M.J. I too attended a 3-yr school in the Midwest and fondly recall "MAN on the Floor" which usually meant someone's dad. We could entertain gentleman callers in our rooms on the first Sunday of each month, between 2 - 4 pm only, with doors open and all feet on the floor. But one Saturday we managed to sneak 2 guys in for an entire evening-- also with the help of a hospital security guard who looked the other way--hmm, did we attend the same school perhaps?

The nurses in the photo might also have contraband under the bed. That's where we stashed our beer, hot plates, popcorn poppers and other forbidden items, as we realized the housemother was too arthritic to bend over that far-- and thus survived all the "room inspections", ie, raids! Those were the days!
